Michigan Dining Food Advisory Committee

Mission: The Michigan Dining Food Advisory Committee provides a student perspective to the Michigan Dining Senior Lead Team to advance the mission of Michigan Dining as stated in the following: Michigan Dining offers an integrated and consistently high quality dining experience worthy of the Michigan brand. We are forward thinking, sustainable, student focused, customer driven, financially successful, inclusive and provide experiential learning for all.

Members:

  • Provide input to the MDining Leadership team on student focused issues and needs as it pertains to the operational functions of MDining.

  • Make suggestions to, and engage in discussion with, the MDining lead team for enhancements to services and new program initiatives.  The programs are based on student input regarding their wants and needs as it applies to customer service, and the customer health and nutrition of the student which are financially sound recommendations.

  • Will receive education on the functions of MDining and input from the MDining Lead team on the development and progress of new initiatives and enhancements prior to, and post release of projects.

  • Work together with the MDining Lead team to develop programs to educate the student body of the MDining program initiatives pertaining to trending food cultures, student food health, and student focused driven programs that provide an excellent customer service experience for the student guest.

Participation:

  • Michigan Dining Food Advisory Committee is composed of 12-15 members.  We strive to have a cross section of representatives of student organizations and campus neighborhoods from a diverse student population.

  • Any U-M student is eligible to participate in the Michigan Dining Food Advisory Committee. Prospective members should have a strong interest in food as it relates to the health and well-being of the student body.

  • Members are selected based on their interest in the food service program of Michigan Dining.

Meetings: Michigan Dining Food Advisory Committee Members meets monthly on the third Thursday of the month from 5:00 – 6:00 pm.
