Dining Operational Updates & FAQs

Michigan Dining continues to take steps to ensure that guests remain safe while eating on campus. Our Dining program is guided and informed by public health information and University and Michigan Medicine experts.

Weekly COVID-19 testing through the university is required for Ann Arbor undergraduate, graduate, and professional students who are Housing Residents or who wish to use any campus facilities including the Dining Halls, Cafes, and Markets. Presenting the ResponsiBlue App will be required for entry into all dining halls. For more information regarding required testing visit the Maize and Blueprint page.

Fall 2021

RESIDENTIAL DINING:

Michigan Dining will have all of our dining halls open for dine-in and carry-out service starting August 25, 2021. Fall 2021 hours of operation can be viewed here

We are continuing our work with University and Michigan Medicine experts and our partners in Housing to determine safety measures that will be in place. At this time these include but are not limited to: social distancing, displaying ResponsiBlue screening for entrance, and wearing a mask.

MEAL PLANS:

Residential Meal Plans:
All students living in a residence hall are required to have a Residential Meal Plan. This meal plan selection will be made at the time the Housing Contract is signed. If you need to make changes to your meal plan after you have signed your contract, you will be able to do so in late August via our meal plan portal, GET.

Off-Campus Meal Plans:

Michigan Dining will be offering a buy-ahead promotion for Off-Campus Meal Plans. The promotion allows you to purchase your Fall 2021 and Winter 2022 meal plan with 2020-2021 prices and will end on May 31, 2021. More information can be found here. Off-Campus Meal Plans purchases, outside of the buy-ahead promotion will begin August 23, 2021, via our meal plan portal GET.

RETAIL DINING:

Michigan Dining will open all of our cafés, markets, and grills for service starting August 25, 2021. Regular Fall 2021 hours of operation can be viewed here.

Spring and Summer 2021

RESIDENTIAL DINING:

At this time Michigan Dining will offer carry-out and dine-in for students. Students are required to wear a mask until they are seated and only one person is permitted to sit at each table.

We are continuing our work with University and Michigan Medicine experts and our partners in Housing to determine safety measures that will be in place. At this time these include but are not limited to: social distancing, displaying ResponsiBlue screening for entrance, and wearing a mask.

MEAL PLANS:

Residential Meal Plans:
All students living in a residence hall are required to have a Residential Meal Plan. Michigan Dining only offers the Residential Basic Meal plan for both the Spring and Summer terms. 

Off-Campus Meal Plans:

Michigan Dining has one Off-Campus Meal Plan, the Premium Plan, for sale during the Spring 2021 and Summer 2021 terms. Only students enrolled in the respective terms are able to purchase this plan. Students interested in this plan should contact mealplans@umich.eduStudents not enrolled in Spring 2021 or Summer 2021 can still dine with us using our Single Meal Entry Rates.

RETAIL DINING:

Some retail dining locations have temporarily closed due to low campus traffic as a result of COVID-19. Current hours of operation for Spring/Summer can be viewed here.

Maize & Blue Cupboard

The Maize and Blue Cupboard has a reservation system for shopping. Make an appointment to limit your wait in line outside!
Visitors will need to present their MCard before shopping. A limited number of shoppers are able to enter the Maize and Blue Cupboard at a time and we ask that all shoppers wear a mask upon entering the cupboard. Follow the Maize and Blue Cupboard on Facebook or visit their website for more information about the cupboard and how you may be able to support the team during this time of need. If you don’t need a resource, be a resource!

The Maize and Blue Cupboard will also be offering distribution days on North Campus. For more information on dates, reservations and opportunities to volunteer, visit mbc.studentlife.umich.edu
