Dining Operational Updates & FAQs

Updated: 1/19/2021

Michigan Dining continues to take steps to ensure that guests remain safe while eating on campus. Our Dining program this year has been guided and informed by public health information and University and Michigan Medicine experts.

Weekly COVID-19 testing through the university is required for Ann Arbor undergraduate students identified as the following:
– Living in Michigan Housing.
– Registered for any in-person courses that meet on campus, regardless of how frequently the course meets in-person.
– Employed in a position that requires them to come to campus.
– Conducting research in an on campus facility/building.
– Coming to campus to use facilities (e.g. libraries, unions, Rec Sports, Dining).

Presenting the ResponsiBlue App will be required for entry into all dining halls. For more information regarding required testing visit the Maize and Blueprint page.

If guests have allergy concerns please email eatsmart@umich.edu. In addition, the most up-to-date information regarding COVID-19 can be found by visiting the Maize and Blueprint website.

All dining halls will offer to-go meals. You can also view the MDining To Go section below to see additional to go locations on campus.

MDining To-Go Express Stations:
Michigan Dining’s To-Go Express Station is now open at the Michigan Union.

MEAL PLANS:

Residential Meal Plans:
Dining Dollars from Fall 2020 Residential Meal Plans rolled over if you were enrolled in a Winter 2021 meal plan by 12/20/20. If you were not enrolled in a Winter 2021 meal plan at that time, any Dining Dollar balance greater than $5 was refunded to your student account. Please email mealplans@umich.edu if you have questions regarding Fall 2020 Dining Dollars.

Off-Campus Meal Plans:
If you had an off-campus Block Meal Plan for the Fall 20 term, under normal circumstances your remaining Fall meal swipes and Dining Dollars would only roll over with the purchase of a Winter term meal plan. Due to the circumstances this year, Michigan Dining is allowing for these meal swipes and Dining Dollars to roll over without the purchase of a Winter term meal plan. Any remaining balances at the end of the Winter term will expire.

Students will still be able to purchase off campus meal plans for Winter 21. For more information on off-campus meal plans click here.

RETAIL DINING:

Some retail dining locations have temporarily closed due to low campus traffic as a result of COVID-19. Regular hours of operation can be viewed here.

THE MAIZE & BLUE CUPBOARD:

The Maize and Blue Cupboard now has a reservation system for shopping. Make an appointment to limit your wait in line outside!
Visitors will need to present their MCard before shopping. A limited number of shoppers are able to enter the Maize and Blue Cupboard at a time and we ask that all shoppers wear a mask upon entering the cupboard. Follow the Maize and Blue Cupboard on Facebook or visit their website for more information about the cupboard and how you may be able to support the team during this time of need. If you don’t need a resource, be a resource!

The Maize and Blue Cupboard will also be offering distribution days on North Campus. For more information on dates, reservations and opportunities to volunteer, visit mbc.studentlife.umich.edu
