Michigan Dining is committed to the humane treatment of animals, including treatment provided by suppliers. The humane treatment of food animals encompasses practices in breeding, living conditions, care standards, transport, and end-of-life management. Michigan Dining prefers suppliers that uphold the highest standard of humane treatment of animals.

  • All the milk, yogurt, and soft-serve ice cream served in the dining halls come from Prairie Farms, a dairy cooperative made up of local Michigan dairy farms that upholds the highest standards of animal care and contains no genetically engineered hormones. 
  • Shelled eggs used for dishes in the dining halls and retail locations are all cage-free.
