Animal Welfare

MDining aims to provide food service that prioritizes animal respect, health, and well-being, and that promotes environmental sustainability.

  • All the milk, yogurt, and soft-serve ice cream served in the dining halls come from Prairie Farms, a dairy cooperative made up of local Michigan dairy farms that upholds the highest standards of animal care and contains no genetically engineered hormones.
  • Shelled eggs used for dishes in the dining halls and retail locations are all cage-free.
  • All beef in burgers on campus are sourced from spent dairy cattle, and is blended with mushrooms to reduce the amount of beef required
